The Waldorf School of Princeton is part of an international educational movement that grew out of the teachings of Rudolf Steiner, an Austrian philosopher, scientist, architect, and artist of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. In 1919 the owner of the Waldorf-Astoria cigarette factory in Stuttgart, Germany asked Steiner to found a school for his workers’ children. With an emphasis on child development and a balanced curriculum incorporating practical, intellectual, and artistic elements, the movement has now grown to over 800 schools on five continents. |
